About this scholarship

SMART pays full tuition and a stipend for STEM students who will work at a Department of Defense facility after graduation. It is a job with school attached, not a gift. Undergraduates and graduate students in approved technical majors may apply. U.S. citizenship is required. Read the service commitment before you apply — you will owe time at the facility that funded you. The stipend and summer internships are why this list belongs next to ACS and other society awards, not next to $1,000 drawings.
